Cycling past the windmills
Three new cycle routes are published by the Province of Zuid-Holland to mark the occasion of the ‘Long Live the Windmills!’ theme year.
Windmill route through Leiden and the Kagerplassen
This 35-km cycle route will take you through the lively city of Leiden and its surrounding green polders that are drained by several mills. The route starts in Leiden where you will become acquainted with Leiden acquainted with Leiden’s history as a centre for trading and the wool industry. The route will then take you through Warmond, past the Kagerplassen, through Rijpwetering and back to the city centre of Leiden.
