The history of Hotel Nieuw Minerva starts in the year 1945. What then started as a cafe in a 16th century warehouse, has been expanded during the course of the years with six canal houses, and converted into a hotel with 35 unique rooms. The historic canal houses and buildings each have their own story to tell. For instance, did you know that J.R. Thorbecke, the father of the Dutch Constitution, used to live in one of the buildings? And that one of the rooms boasts a bed in which Louis Napoleon has slept?
